Ibubi Primary School History
Its is an ordinary public educational institute in Wekhomo, Emuhaya, Kenya. This school is managed / sponsored by religious organization called Church of God in EA and offers Kenya Certificate of Primary Education (KCPE), which is controlled by the Kenya National Examination Council (KNEC) under Ministry of Education.
Ibubi primary school was started in 1955 as a measure to ease congestion from Kima primary and intermediate School which was run by Church of God in East Africa Kenya. The School was situated at Ibubi Girls Compound.
The first learners were drawn from neibouring villages such as Wanakhale, Wandeche, Iboona among others who were members of the sponsor Church of God in E. A (K). At that time Learners were admitted to school as per their denomination. Such learners left Kima Primary and intermediate School to start at Ibubi Primary School which later became an intermediate school under the leadership of Mr. Habil Olembo who was their teacher at Kima.
In 1974 the community and the Church started Ibubi Girls Secondary School, Due to lack of space they were advised by the ministry of Education to acquire land for Ibubi Girls Secondary school or to be closed down, they then acquired the plot that holds Ibubi Primary School in which the primary school was moved in the late 1980s
By carefully demolishing part of the classes at the secondary school bricks and windows were used to put up classes at the primary school including the present day administration Block. Academically the school has been a giant in the region, County Sub county and zonal levels for many years and has maintained the same.
